ASSOCIATION OF ZOOLOGICAL HORTICULTURE CONSERVATION AWARD GUIDELINES:
All nominations for the AZH Conservation Award will be judged using the following criteria:

PUBLICATIONS RELATING TO CONSERVATION

0-20 Quality of Design Publication (for instance this means format: page layout, paragraph layout and presentation of the publication; pictures: meaning focus, color versus black and white, labeling of pictures: font and size of print)

0-20 Accuracy of information (for instance correct: labeling, grammar, spelling and content)

0-20 Significance to issues stated in the Mission statement, Goals and Activities of the Conservation committee.

0-10 Benefits to AZH members (meaning how much members may learn from the publication, how much of a model the publication is to other members, if the publication sets an example and if there is direct benefit or utilization opportunities of the publication)

0-30 Educational value (meaning the value or relevance regarding the content or context)

INDIVIDUAL MERIT

0-35 Contributions to Plant Conservation field (for instance the quality and quantity of experience, projects, publications, involvement, professional associations, other awards and achievement s pertaining directly to plant conservation)

0-30 Qualifications (meaning the information that generally goes on a Curriculum-vitae)

0-35 Originality and excellence of individual (meaning how much an individual makes of the resources available at their disposal, how innovative an individual is: if and individual provides unusual, new or quality information, topics or techniques)

CONSERVATION PROGRAMS

0-15 Quality of Program (meaning the quality of presentations, understandability and effectiveness)

0-25 Significance to issues stated in the Mission statement, Goals and Activities of the Conservation committee.

0-20 Contributions to conservation field (meaning the effects of the program on people, partnerships formed because of the program, involvement in the "big picture” of plant conservation, community involvement because of the program)

0-10 Benefits to AZH members (meaning how much members may learn from the program, how much of a model the program is to other members, if the program sets an example and if there is direct benefit or utilization opportunities of the program)

0-15 Educational value (meaning the value or relevance regarding the content or context)

0-15 Successfulness of implementation of the program (meaning the track record of the program, it’s measurable success rate or usability of the information provided by the program)

EXHIBITS OR DISPLAYS
0-20 Quality of Display (meaning the quality of presentation, understandability and effectiveness)

0-30 Significance to issues stated in the Mission statement, Goals and Activities of the Conservation Committee.

0-10 Benefits to AZH members (meaning how much members may learn from the exhibit, how much of a model the display is to other members, if the program sets an example and if there is direct benefit or utilization opportunities of the display)

0-20 Educational value (meaning the value or relevance regarding the content or context)

0-20 Accuracy of presentation (for instance correct: labeling, grammar, spelling of any interpretives associated with the exhibit or program and the accuracy of the content of the exhibit which may include types of plants used, information or other factors affecting correctness of setting or context)
